Friends, family & carers

The Family, Friends and Carer Service aims to provide support to the families, friends, and carers of people who misuse alcohol and/or drugs in the Luton area. We provide information, advice, and psycho-educative support to anyone who is concerned or affected by somebody else’s alcohol and drug use.

You do not have to be a registered carer to refer, and the person who misuses alcohol or drugs does not have to be in treatment with us. We ensure that affected families and friends have access to a confidential platform to reflect on their own needs and well-being without fear of judgement.

We offer sessions on a 1-to-1 basis covering the five steps family intervention. If needed, we can also refer to our counselling service or to partner agencies.

The sessions are held at The ResoLUTiONs Recovery Hub on Castle Street.

There is also a Family, Friends, and Carers group on Wednesdays 18:00 – 19:30.

Adults

Our focus is always on you. We want to support you in reaching your goals and live the life you want, free from the negative effects of alcohol and/or drugs.

Young people

Whether you want confidential and judgement-free help or advice, our trained, friendly staff are on hand to listen to you and understand your individual needs.

My one on one sessions have really helped me to understand addiction more and how to help myself handle my situation and how to look after myself first.  Without my one on one sessions, I would not have coped.

The sessions during lunch time were a huge success. The students really showed an interest with all year groups coming to find out more information. A great service. Thank you for your time.

‘’18 months ago I walked into the hub almost broken. I spent every day here in my corner. Gradually with the on-going support of staff and people I turned my life around. I have grown as a person and I can truly say the hub saved my life.’’

Service User

At first like all things, I was very nervous about coming to the hub, but I think it’s now been 7 months and I am feeling more relaxed with talking to people, I feel more confident and I am feeling happy and content. I am recovering at the Hub. Thank you.’’

Service User

‘’The Hub has helped me through my recovery, found my place and community where I can feel safe away from temptation and falling into my old way. Glad to also help others as well.’’
